Smart cylinder
Janus Door
Replaces the cylinder in the doors you already have and opens them from the app, remotely through the gateway, or fully standalone, with no connection.

Inside the cylinder
Janus Door
Fits the doors you already have
Janus Door is a smart cylinder that replaces the mechanical cylinder. The lock stays. Available on request for EU DIN, Nordic, Australian and Israeli standards.
Each user receives an e-key: a signed grant that the cylinder accepts for as long as it is valid.
JANUS has its own access platform, with open interfaces for integrations.
The platform integrates seamlessly with third-party security solutions, such as Genetec Security Center.
A bridge box between the cylinders and the network. It talks to the cylinders over Bluetooth and provides remote access.
An LED and a buzzer confirm a successful opening.

Frequently asked questions
Doors and installation
Which doors is it compatible with?
JANUS is available for the main door standards: European (EU DIN), Nordic, Australian and Israeli, so you can enjoy its benefits across different types of installation.
Which cylinder sizes are available?
The cylinders adapt to different door thicknesses, with lengths of up to 60 mm on each side in 5 mm steps. Depending on the model, one side can be 0 mm to suit different configurations.
Do I have to change the whole lock?
No. You only replace the cylinder and keep your current lock. A simple way to modernise your door without changing the whole system.
Is there a version for server racks?
Yes. Janus Rack has the same knob and fits the standard 25 × 150 mm cutout used for rack locks. Access control for your server cabinets, on the same platform as the rest of your doors.
Opening and connectivity
What is an e-key?
A digital key that lets each user open the doors they are authorised for. It is sent securely and only works during the validity period set for it.
How is the door opened?
You have several options: from the JANUS app over Bluetooth, remotely through the gateway, or with a reader connected to your access control system. You choose how each access is managed.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. You can open the door straight from the app over Bluetooth, even without internet, as long as you have a valid e-key. To open it remotely, you need a gateway.
What happens if the power or the internet goes down?
A power cut or an internet outage won't lock you out. The cylinder runs on its own batteries, and you can keep opening the door from the app over Bluetooth with a valid e-key.
How do I know the door has opened correctly?
The LED and buzzer on the outer knob confirm each successful opening. When the cylinder is connected to the gateway, the platform can also notify openings in real time.
What if I need a physical key?
JANUS includes a hidden mechanical backup key, so you always have another way to open the door when needed.
Platform and integrations
Do I need another security platform?
Not necessarily. JANUS has its own access control platform, designed to integrate with solutions from other manufacturers. If you already use another system, you can add JANUS and manage access in one place.
Which security systems is it compatible with?
JANUS can integrate with third-party security platforms, such as Genetec Security Center, for centralised access management.
Can I use the card readers I already have?
Yes, if they are connected to a compatible access control platform or can send an open signal to the gateway. Generic standalone readers are not supported directly.
Does the cylinder include a keypad or NFC reader?
No. To keep the design compact and reduce power consumption, the cylinder has no keypad or NFC reader. If you need other forms of identification, you can use an auxiliary connected reader.
Power
What powers the cylinder?
It runs on batteries housed in the outer knob, which holds all the electronics. It needs no electrical connection at the door, which makes installation easier and lets you modernise access without building work or extra wiring.
